NICARAGUA - June 16, 2013

“Let the little children come to Me.  Don’t stop them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Mark 10:14

Today we celebrated “Children’s Day” with 70 children at Christ, My Rock, Baptist Church.  We arrived at the church in Tipitapa, Nicaragua (try saying that 3 times really fast), the home church of our translator, Eli.  The pastor of the church, Pastora Sandra (yes, this is a Baptist church!) greeted us with open arms, along with the wonderful children and 3 clowns.  We sang, we played, we danced (and yes, I already said this is a Baptist church!), we laughed, we listened to God’s word, and we ate.

This church is ministering to the children of the Barrio in this small town just outside of Managua.  Eli was so impressed with the work that Bethel Baptist is doing with the street children, he took this idea back to his church and now he leads out in thie weekly ministry of discipleship and feeding.  We were truly blessed by this morning’s service.

The afternoon was spent shopping at the market and seeing an “active” volcano up-close and personal!  Tomorrow morning will begin our daily visits to the Hogar Senil (nursing home) where we will encourage the 13 residents by loving on them and also helping out with small maintenance projects.  After lunch we will have our Vacation Bible School at Bethel Baptist where we will love on 200 “street children.”

Please continue to pray for us as we serve in Nicaragua, the second poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere.
