GUATEMALA Tuesday 5/7/13

Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.” He took a little child whom he placed among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them, Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me."
Mark 9:35-37

“They are Precious in His Sight!”

During devotion this morning, Jim shared Scripture on patience from the book of James. It is so easy to always be rushing around with a million things to do, but it is so important to remember to slow down and let God’s plan unfold. When we sit down to watch a movie, we don’t fast forward through it. We watch it at the speed the creator intended it to be watched. And so it is with our lives and our Creator.

Today was another wonderful day at the Center. It was a little easier after having one day under our belts as everyone is more accustomed to the kids, the schedule, and the facility. We leave our hotel at 8:00am and arrive at the Center at 9:00am. Like usual, we start by helping the Nannies finish up baths and start play time. At about 10:30am, they get a nutritional drink as a snack. Then it’s back to playing! (And diaper changing/potty breaks.) The kids eat lunch around 12:30pm, and lay down for a nap at about 1:30-2:00pm. We eat while they nap, and it is definitely a relaxing time for us. They wake up around 3:00pm and get another nutritional snack. We play and love on them some more, then we leave at 4:30.

After returning to the hotel this evening, I noticed something – or rather, the lack of something. It was quiet. No background laughter, cries, shouts of “hola!,” or constant chatter that is always present during the day. And I missed it. That’s when it hit me how hard it will be to say goodbye on Thursday. I wondered how the kids were. If they were sleeping soundly in their cribs or if any were restless. However, I looked back on the day with a smile. I can’t wait to be greeted by so much noise and those precious little faces tomorrow!

Thank you for your prayers and please keep it up!
