“Cool” day in Nicaragua!
When we say “cool,” we mean that literally and figuratively! The weather has been wonderful….for Nicaragua. Today’s high was a pleasant 86 degrees… and if you’ve ever been to Nicaragua, you know that is WAY cool. Can you believe that we’re hardly even sweating? God is good.
This morning, on our way to the nursing home, we made a quick stop on the side of the road and made a much needed purchase for the home… NEW MATTRESSES. After seeing the mattresses yesterday, the Lord laid it on the hearts of the team members to purchase 12 new mattresses, one for each resident. Gustavo (Mr. Macho), one of the residents, was especially excited about his mattress; he couldn’t stop smiling and talking about it.
Stan and Tim began working on their project list and completed several already. They will tackle the electrical tomorrow. Sue (Stan’s wife) told us to make sure that the pliers were rubber coated…uh oh! Good thing Tim is along to assist!
The ladies provided a day of pampering to the residents by brushing hair, smoothing lotion on hands and feet, and even providing soft massages to the shoulders and heads… all while listening to wonderful, old hymns being played in Spanish. It was very special to hear some of the residents singing along as they recognized the music. Nurse Grace was able to help clean and dress an ugly wound on Doña Francisca.
This afternoon was filled with laughter, music, Bible
stories, crafts and a healthy meal. Tim
started off the opening session by sharing the story for today. He shared about
how important it is to share God’s love with your family and others. After a time of music, the children divided
into their groups and continued the activities.
The children thought it was very cool as they all received bead
necklaces and caps to take home.
We are very impressed with the structure of the Samuelito Ministry, along with how loving the children are. We are privileged to help share His love to these beautiful children. We also have made some lasting relationships with the amazing leaders of the program. This ministry truly is blessed to have the wonderful, Christ-filled leaders who are concerned and burdened for these children. Again, we thank you for your continued support through prayer!
Hasta mañana.
