Breakfast started at 6:30.
This was followed by our devotional time, outside in a garden with long
hanging orchids and Boston ferns flowing down from ceiling to floor. Our devotional was on “Doors”. .
Guatemala has the most gorgeous doors to buildings, as we walk around
town we see, open doors, distressed doors and you can’t tell from the outside,
what is behind all those closed doors.
Scripture mentions doors the Lord opens…. Rev. 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door and
knock…..” As we share about the many
paths our lives have taken, we get a glimpse of what is behind the doors of our
lives and heart. And what a great
Blessing to see how God has taken us out of many difficult situations and
brings us all here to Guatemala to serve Him and love on the children. We look forward to finally opening the door
to the center today and seeing the nannies and all the children!
This was our first day at the Malnutrition Center we got
acquainted with the workers, learned the schedule, interacted and assisted with
the children. We all were assigned a group,
and began WORKING to help as best we could. Our devotional time with the staff
was a good opportunity to share God’s word.
We shared on How God tells us we are assured of salvation with the presence
of the Spirit, and ended with beginning to learn the fruits of the Spirit…we
thought Spanish would be good but ended
up learning it in English, too! It is
great to see their eagerness to learn.
Our challenge is to see how many can memorize it. I think we will challenge the team to
memorize it in Spanish, as well. We
start with “el fruto del Espiritu es,
amor, gozo, paz…
4:30 back on the bus.
“What was your favorite part of the day?”
was the question we asked each other..
“ NOW!”, Glenda said
as we all laughed, but really I truly loved the children
Carmen - Feeding the children
Rhonda – Seeing the children’s improvement from last year,
hair color and weight gain. But we definitely need more help, hinting to all
our team from last year!
Cathy – Seeing Louis Fernando run, after struggling with
walking the past few times.
Kristen – It brings me to tears how hard these nannies work
while displaying such love and kindness towards the kids and patience with us.
Those who have been here before commented throughout the
day, how much the kids have changed and seeing improvements completed at the
center.
