Today is the last day at the Center, and it is already
very emotional to think about saying goodbye to these sweet little
children. After lunch we were able to
present gifts to the women that work here at the Center. We wanted to show how
much we appreciate them and the incredibly hard work that they do day in and day
out. They were very
welcoming, and it was evident that they were grateful for the help we
provided. Several of the team members
have already shed tears at the thought of leaving and when the children yell “Adios!!”
while waving goodbye, there will not be a dry eye on the van driving away.
It would be a travesty if we did not take time out to
thank Howie and Jeff for their leadership on our trip. Howie and Orphan’s Heart
have really set up such a great collaboration between the Malnutrition Center
and churches like ours. We can see how
seamless they have made it for groups to come in and help out. It is also very
evident that the kids know and trust Howie.
He not only is the face of the organization to our team but he is the heart
as well, and that is evident to all.
Jeff has also been a great leader and guide for our
group, working with Howie to set up a great ministry experience. He kept us in
line, made sure we were punctual and took on the big role of maintenance at the
center while we were here. The kids loved looking out the window while he was
mowing, and he had his own audience while he was fixing a changing table. I know he will make sure that we are all up
and ready to leave the hotel at 3:45 a.m. tomorrow! Pray that
we have safe travels. U.S.A. here we
come!
