Braden River/Arcadia/Palmetto Churches have arrived!

Our first day in Guatemala proved to be an exciting one! The group of 40 split into two excursions- the brave (or not) tackled zip-lining, while the others explored the ancient Mayan ruins.
On our travels through the cobble stone streets of Guatemala we are greeted with warm smiles and friendly greetings of “Buenos Dias!” We are all more than happy to repeat these phrases back to them.

Zip-lining proved to be the easy part, with the walk back up the mountain the hardest part!  Many a tree was hugged on our ascent back up!

Visiting the Mayan ruins was a fascinating experience for those who went, as they stopped to pray at the Mayan altar.

Wow! time proved to be just that-WOW! We shared how Jesus brought us to our destination. Some had obstacles- forgotten passports, financial and emotional stress, but God paved the way for each of us, as we were called to this mission trip.
Our first day at the Center...
Our newest arrival (still waiting on her name) was already beginning to look stronger and healthier, but she's still as small as a little baby doll!

Walter ate like a pig and is showing us that he is ready to be a Bunny!

Whitney made tortillas like a pro making 11 in record time!

Noah and Abby made good friends with Vilma & Gladys.

Matt (from Oklahoma-Really) helped the squirrels and ducks make necklaces.

Heidi with Angel, who immediately ran to her arms.

Ezra (aka Yung) completed his very first diaper change and was able to successfully coax his Bunny into eating his whole plate.

Other exciting stuff:
*Patrick rode the train and has been declared the Conductor of the Malnutrition Express!
*The interns are amazing--always willing to offer advice.
*The workers in the Canary room were amazed at how tranquil the room was compared to other baby nurseries they have been in!
*Alex won the food fight against Leah!
Today was a great day, and we look forward to what the Lord has prepared for us on Tuesday.
