HAITI - Team or No Team...The Work Goes On!!

Haiti - Wednesday, March 7

Well, the Feb 25 - Mar 3 team from Madisonville, Kentucky (go Wildcats!) left us on Saturday, and the March 8-14 team, also from Kentucky, will arrive on Thursday, but we have not been idle! The plumbing for the Phase 1 bathroom, with six toilets, six showers and 4 lavatories is installed and the remesh is in place. We're ready to pour that room on Friday. It is also now connected to the septic tank. The small "parents" bathroom in the main part is also plumbed, and about a third of the remesh is in, so we will be ready to start pouring that part on Saturday. It will get poured in sections along the lines of the control joints. There is also plenty of sand to be moved into the drain field if we run out of stuff to do!

The Lord has continued to bless us with good weather, not too hot yet, and we have had only one big rain, late one afternoon right at the end of the last trip, so we weren't impacted by it, but it did cool things off and wash down the dust.

The Dominican team was not here with us in between work teams, so we had the experience of riding around in a "tap-tap" one day, and the Pastor's truck on the others. One day we carried five 20-foot lengths of 4-inch PVC pipe from MSC to Bon Repos, with me in back trying to hold everything down on the bumpy roads. Wow!

We are hoping and praying we will get all the slab poured this next week. After that we really need some good block layers to come in and do the walls. EVERY WEEK WE LOSE MEANS IT IS MORE LIKELY THE KIDS WILL HAVE TO STAY IN THEIR CURRENT TENT CABINS DURING THE RAINY SEASON. UGH! Please pray that the Lord will provide the workers we need!
