HAITI - March 12

Haiti - Monday, March 12

Today we went back to work on the foundation. First we had to clear out the gravel that had gotten into some of the concrete block cells, so we can pour grout into them.

We also had to cut sections of rebar to extend up from the slab level to reinforce the block walls.

Meanwhile, more fill was coming in for the septic drain fields, which we had to spread, and we scrounged every bit of sand we could find all around the site to put in as well.

We even did the septic drain field behind the Pastor House.

And we moved all the left over blocks we had up onto the slab to be ready for the block layers we're praying will come soon.

The drain fields are getting full, but we will need more sand and fill for them.

Some of the guys took down the wood forms that had been used to pour the outer wall bond beam.

We had time today to take part of the team over to a nearby orphanage run by Pastor Felix, which is always a treat. (Note to Gaddis team: your gift was delivered and much appreciated!). Such beautiful children.

This is Fritz, who asked everyone if he could go home with them. (We wish he could!)

One of their favorite things is being thrown in the air!

More of the children.

Pastor Felix.

This is what we are here for!

Tomorrow we will pour the foundation wall cells and put in the new rebar. Some more sand may be in our future too. We will leave here all ready for the block walls to be done, and the septic drain field to have its pipes installed. Only the Lord knows when we will be able to continue the work. We will try to end early again and go over to visit the children one more time before we leave. It will be sad, but we have accomplished so much with the last two teams. The new orphanage seems to be springing up out of the ground.

Please pray for us as we finish up here, and especially that the Lord will bless us with such great teams as we have had from Kentucky and Florida so far this year!
