HAITI - January 12 - Construction Team

We've had our challenges this trip, but oh,the wonderful opportunities for spreading God's Word and His love!

Yesterday we ran into a few difficulties....

but the wall is progressing well!

Harrison always attracts a crowd of kids - this time it was all about thumb wrestling.

Charlie met a young unsaved man who wanted a Bible, so he gave him his New Testament, along with some verses to look up and study, and asked him to come back today for a whole Bible.

The wall was looking awesome.

Today, Thursday, was all about doing the wall. There was a friendly competition between our team and the Haitians, but great cooperation as well. We sifted sand for their mortar and carried blocks over for their side of the wall. They lent us their expertise, and at one point their "Bos" mason came over and complemented us on our work.

David has become an expert at mixing mortar, and Charlie at cutting block. Hugh is our best wheelbarrow man, he has literaly hauled a "ton" of fill,. and even Wanda got into the act carrying rocks "Haitian" style!

Here is most of our fantastic "Wall" team.

Today was our best day of interacting with the neighbors. Charlie's young man came back for his whole Bible, and had read and understood all the verses Charlie had given him, and praise the Lord he was saved!. Harrison had fun as usual with his gang of kids, and the ladies brought their neiborhood group over to meet their "maris" (husbands).

Two precious girls from the group.

The house also got a lot of attention, with everyone not working on the wall carrying every bit of fill they could scrounge from all corners of the compound to fill it. Almost done! Plus the benefit that the compound is being cleared of all old dirt piles and debris and has never looked so good!

Is that a wall, or what?!! Eventually it will be twice as tall, and the space you see where the bridge is will be filled with a magnificent rolling metal gate, hopefully by the time the next team gets here on Jan 28!!
