We began our morning at the orphanage praising God with songs in both English and Creole. The kids have learned two songs in American Sign Language, which is an amazing sight! We went straight into our lesson after singing. Today’s lesson was all about salvation, so we made salvation necklaces using the different color beads as symbols. The kids were very receptive to the message. After the necklaces, we made paper airplanes. It was a windy day so it was good timing.
The kids ate lunch early today. While they ate, the women organized the distribution of little baby dolls for all the girls and toy trucks for the boys. The excitement on the orphans’ faces was indescribable. I even saw one little girl literally shaking she was so happy. We feel so blessed to have gotten to know these kids on a personal level and to see them feel more with us as well.
After the orphanage we went to the worksite. We gathered some children from around the site and took them to Pastor Edmond’s church. We once again sang songs as an ice breaker. We asked these kids if they had any favorite songs and a handful stood up and sang worship songs. Again we made paper airplanes as well as teach them the salvation message. We plan to give them all salvation bracelets tomorrow.
All in all it was another wonderful day in Haiti. We are making great progress on the worksite as well as being an incredible encouragement to the orphans. Bondye Bon!
