Uganda Construction Project

This past August, a team from Orphan's Heart had begun work on a 10-foot high fence to enclose the entire Hines Ugandan Ministries (HUM) property in Kamonkoli, Uganda, digging fence post holes and laying the fence posts in concrete--some 140 of them!  During the week of December 5-9, four members of our team, Wayne, Tim, Pat and Ron, picked up where that team left off.  We worked alongside volunteers from the Kamonkoli church and some contracted brick masons to continue the work that the previous team had started.  When we arrived, all of the fence posts were up, and most of the fencing had been stretched along the fence posts, and they were ready for us to begin building.
In our five days of working, we completed the foundation and brick work portion of the project.  It was a blessing to see all of this come together!  This walled entrance area and the guard house will become the main entrance of the community ministries area of the compound for HUM.  We will keep this area separate from the orphanages area for security reasons.  With the completion of the fence and guarded entrance, security can now be procured for future development on the site.  The first building currently planned will be a much needed community center for the village.
All workers along with friends and team members were rewarded for a job well done at the end of the week with a fresh, REALLY FRESH, goat and pig roast!  It was a feast!
