Guatemala, December 27, 2011-January 2, 2012

Another day in paradise… We love it here. Yesterday a few of us went to the market again in Antigua. I like shopping in the markets-note: normally I am NOT a shopaholic type of person! The markets have many colors and it is a Noah’s ark of things you could buy. But it was fun; and we are very thankful to have been blessed with our two translators: Alejandra and Olivia. Without them, we would have been lost! Later on last night, those who were strong and not so unconscious enough went with Howie to McDonald’s.  It was pretty neat to be able to see what it is like to eat in there when you are in another country.
I missed it since I slept in, but some of us and Mrs. Hooper went on the morning walk; and today they went to San Francisco. (And no, I don’t mean the California one.) The cathedral there was lovely and the skies quite clear outside. Mr. Terry was quite awed by it all; and none of the walkers could pick a favorite part of the walk, either. God has really touched all of our hearts by this.
And I am convinced that HE is real and alive, and creation screams out God’s majesty, creativity, and beauty-especially here. You can see it in the splendor of the mountains; the clouds in the sky, the color of the flowers, and so many other places. But best of all, you can see HIS love in the children’s’ eyes and smiles. You can feel HIS power in the strength HE gives you when you walk and serve. It has been a fantastic privilege for all of us to be here. We came to bless, but instead the blessings are just overflowing every moment in our hearts and through our hands, willing to serve because of GOD’s uncountable grace. It is a glorious thing to be able to experience that.
May GOD bless you as you go about today.  I would like to encourage you readers to pray for our team and most importantly our children. They are both gifts from GOD, wrapped in love, laughter, and adventure.
