Sunday
Well, we made it safe and sound to the beautiful DR...Santiago, the 2nd largest city in the DR. The Hotel Platino is very comfortable and we'll enjoy our "home away from home" for the week. All the hotel and restaurant staff have really made us feel at home.
After a good night's rest we began our day with excitement as we worshiped at the church where we will be working with the children. The team shared in song and testimony and felt God's presence even if we didn't understand much of what was said! God's love is easy to understand no matter what language you are hearing it in. We are looking forward to serving with Pastor Pablo and his beautiful family this week.
We enjoyed lunch and fellowship at a local restaurant that over looks the city. The food was delicious as we enjoyed trying some of the local flavors...especially the pastelon...plantain white lasagna!? (yes, it sounds strange but it was absolutely wonderful!)
We had the privilege of sharing again with another church, Cien Fuegos, another church that Pastor Pablo and his family ministers to. Such friendly, welcoming people we have encountered.
Tomorrow we'll have our first day of ministering to the "Children of Hope" (the children that have been rescued from the dump). We'll explain later! Pray for us as we minister and encourage over 300 children through this ministry.
Oh, by the way, the team is consists of members from Grand Island Baptist Church and Alafia Baptist Church.
