Guatemala / Day 5
Well this was our final day in Guatemala! There were a couple who weren't feeling well and decided to stay behind at the hotel; we really missed them today. The entire team got to work at the Center today, because the construction crew had met their goal for the week and had built the three houses that they had hoped to finish. Praise God!!!!! Sooooo we introduced the construction crew (i.e. the men) to those beautiful babies. We had a few more hands on deck, which were very helpful and needed.
The workers at the Center gave a party for everyone. They cooked us a special Guatemalan punch (?) and their special tortillas. They had popcorn and a piƱata full of candy for the children (and Ron too). We all had a great time to fellowship and say good-bye to the children. As the day ended we were all very sad because we knew we had to leave these babies that we had loved on all week.
The workers were wonderful to put up with all of us Americans who don’t speak Spanish, but we found out that pointing is the same in all languages! These workers are to be highly commended for the work they do, so few to love and take care of so many. A great big "Thanks" to each one of them for the model of love and patience they are to us!
God please bless these children and their dedicated workers! Amen.
