GUATEMALA Aug. 13-19

Day 2 / Guatemala

Three brave men, Bro. Bobby, Howie and George, headed out to the Malnutrition Center with all of the women. George jumped right in and volunteered to do some outside yard work that needed to be done, and when he finished, he came inside and helped out loving babies and changing diapers. Go George! Bro Bobby was met first thing by about a dozen smiling faces with their arms held up for a little loving. Bro Bobby made it happen! Howie, who of course is here a lot, greeted some little old friends, by the way they only wanted him, no one else would do.

So, to start off the morning, we all toured the Center, and once we saw those smiling little faces hollering "Hola!", we could not help falling in love with God’s beautiful little Angels.

We all got our assignments and filled them to the best of our abilities. We were stretched a little thin at times, but God took control and we managed. By the end of the day we were all exhausted, overwhelmed and very emotional. It is very hard to come from America, with all the things we have and all the things that are available to us (much more than we need!) and walk into a Malnutrition Center here in Guatemala and see the things that these babies don’t have. It should humble everyone.

The men in the group headed out to the work site to get started pouring concrete slabs for the homes that were going to be built in the next few days. They were able to get three slabs finished. Wow, we have some hard working men! While they were on the job site, they were to minister with some local families and gave out candy, crackers, and ball caps to the children, and a soccer ball to one of the children. A couple of the young men were invited to a baby shower and graciously accepted. But I don’t think they will eat the food again.

Wow! Oh my goodness, what a wonderful day! I never thought any of us would ever say that having unidentifiable things stuck to us would be such a blessing, and so much fun! What little we do for these children means everything to them, and means much more to us. God, please help us bless these children’s lives, and thank you for blessing ours!
