GUATEMALA Aug. 13-19

Hola, Everyone!

Well, we’re all here. We--First Baptist Church, Milton, Fl, a group of awesome young people from the Florida Baptist Children’s Homes, together with their dedicated house parents--made it to Guatemala safe and sound. It couldn’t have gone any smoother. Our flight was on time, we met up with our group in Miami, no luggage was lost, and we were greeted in Guatemala by the biggest most beautiful rainbow we have ever seen! We already know God has his hand on this trip. It was a very long day, and everyone was tired, so we went to our hotel and everyone checked in their rooms and hit the sack to get ready for another big day on Sunday.

P.S. A few of us didn’t know that you’re not supposed to take pictures while you’re still in customs. Oops, sorry!

Sunday was our free day, so we were up and at ‘em early. First, an awesome Guatemalan breakfast, and then outside in the cool weather for some worship time. There’s nothing better than to start the day right with a little singing, some worship time and fellowship! What an awesome morning! Bro. Bobby Musselwhite reminded us that we have been given a treasure from God to be able to be here and to serve Him!

Next we headed way, way up a mountain to Filadelfia Coffee Plantation where we had the option to tour the coffee plantation or ride a zip-line between two mountains, while admiring God’s beautiful creation. We all chose to ride the zip line! Yes, even the “senior” members of our trip! Well, we won’t mention any names, but one of our “fearless” leaders was a little fearful, but SHE faced her fears by looking (up) not down! By the way, just so you know, it’s a lot harder walking back up the mountain!

Then we were off to McDonalds for lunch; yes, McDonalds! They are even here in Guatemala. After lunch we headed to the market for a little shopping; well, some did a little and other did a LOT of shopping. Again, we won’t mention any names. Then back to the hotel for a great dinner and orientation to get ready for our exciting day tomorrow.

We can’t wait to love those beautiful babies and build some houses. The last two day’s have been so God-filled and awesome, and we’ve only just begun!
