Thursday July 21, 2011 Final Day

Well the last day has come for us to serve at the Center. Lots of emotions fill the day. The week has been a tremendous time to serve and worship God. It has also been a time to develop new friendships and strengthen old ones. You would think that this group has been serving together for months as close as they have become. We started with breakfast and devotions as always. Dr Bala spoke on “Stay focused on Jesus”. He described the emotions that we would feel as we leave the Center at the end of the day and encouraged us to stay focused on what Jesus has allowed us to accomplish this week and all the ways that He has used us to be His hands and feet. Very fitting for what was to come. Praise God for His grace and the love that He has for each one of us.

The weather has been tremendous for the outdoor projects that we completed this week and today at the center we were able to take the kids outside to celebrate some birthdays Guatemalan style – piñatas and fireworks. The kids had a blast and I think we enjoyed it just as much as the scramble for the candy ensued after the piñata came down – those kids are quick and aggressive. It seemed like only a couple of hours and it was time to leave. Walking away with so much left to do was hard but knowing that God is in control we left these precious children in His hands and the capable hands of the dedicated Center staff.

After dinner we had our Wow time and it was another moving experience as people shared how God has touched their lives throughout the week. I have not heard one person yet that doesn’t want to come back. So watch out Guatemala – see you soon!

We love you Jesus. Thank you for this opportunity. We were truly blessed!
