Nicaragua Team of Two!

We're just a team of two, but we know that "where two or three are gathered in Jesus' name," He's going to be right there in the midst of them. That's been our experience here in Managua, Nicaragua! God has made Himself known in ways great and small since we landed on Saturday morning. Even before beginning our ministry here, God has opened doors, arranged strategic, unexpected meetings, built relationships, and brought people across our path--things that only He could have accomplished! We're amazed to see that when we're simply obedient to "go," He fulfills His promise to go before us!

Our purpose in coming this week is to work with a local church in a ministry to street children from all over the city. The kids are bused in to the church from all sectors of Managua. They will spend three hours each afternoon hearing the Good News of God's Word taught and experiencing first-hand the love of Christ being shared through smiles and hugs and a plate of warm food!

Today was the first day, and what a joy it was to fellowship with the brothers and sisters at Bethel Baptist Church and to welcome over 150 excited children to join us! They listened intently as the Gospel was shared, and 50 children came forward wanting to follow Christ and accept Him as their Savior. What an important step for each of these children as they begin their journey with the Lord.

Following the evangelistic service, the children broke into small groups by age and heard the story of how Jesus used the lunch of a small boy to feed a crowd of more than 5,000 people. We wanted them to know that they have a God who loves them and promises to supply their every need. Then it was time to eat! No cookies or cones filled with lucious ice cream could have brought the smiles that were on the children's faces as they gobbled up a plate of rice and chicken and vegetables that had been lovingly prepared for them by the ladies of the church. The sad moment came as children crowded around the entrance to the kitchen pleading for more food, but there was none left. We promised that there would be more tomorrow.

Take a moment to consider your life--where you are and what you have been blessed with. Could you take one week and come with us to share a plate of food, a hug, a smile, the message of salvation, the love of Jesus with a child? It could be the most important trip you'll ever make! "Inasmuch as you have done it unto the least of these, you have done it unto me!"
