Post from Guatemala July 15, 2009

Today we wrapped up our time at the Malnutrition Center. We started the day with prayer, scripture and breakfast. We read Titus 2:11-14, Proverbs 8:35-36 and several others. We were reminded about the instructions God gives us on living after we come to know Him. And today we had another chance to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ to children that are in need. We were well aware that today is our last day at the center.

The men successfully finished up the electrical jobs they had worked on each day.

Dr. Bala continued to treat the children and worked in the pharmacy. He also provided education to the staff at the Center. His caring touch with each child has been obvious and everyone is so grateful for his expertise in diagnosing and treating the children.

The toddlers had a fun-filled time and overflowed with energy. Their Bible lesson was about how Jesus prays for us. They sang, played games indoors and on the playground. They also were treated to a snack of Vanilla Wafers and they were a hit! You could really tell they have opened up to the team and the grins were so big they were contagious!

It was hard to leave the center today. It is almost time to head back home to our own families. There are several teams coming over the next few weeks and for that we are grateful. The 4 days we were able to spend with these particular children of Guatemala have been a gift. We will leave here a changed group of people…for the better. There have always been children in this world in need…but this week we got to hold them in our very own arms and look into their eyes. We got to rock them, play with them, feed them, teach them, and hug them. And now we will pray for them.

By Kimberly for the entire team
