Day off recap

Well...our trip is drawing to a close and we are all very sad (and exhausted!) It has been quite a day! Some of our team members had a full day of shopping and exploring the city of Antigua today. It is a good thing that we have extra suit cases to fill with mementos from Guatemala!
The rest of our team climbed Pakaya, a volcano outside of Guatemala city. This adventure was full of surprises as we had to run/ski down the side of the volcano covered in ash and volcanic rock pieces. Some of the boys LOVED this and repeated it several times, while, some of us took a crash course in "volcano skiing" and were done for the day! The volcano was extremely active today. We hiked to the top as close as we could get to the volcano and we were able to have lunch as we watched huge volcanic rocks and magma burst from the volcano and tumble down the hill. The volcano also made more rumbling sounds than our guide had ever heard! And, finally, we were up so high in the sky that we stood at the top of one mountain and we were standing in a cloud! It was a dream come true for many of us :)
But,...we made it! It feels so good to be on solid ground again!
Our team is already missing the little children at the malnutrition center. We have been watching videos of them on our cameras all day and everyone is already planning their next trip out to Guatemala. It has been incredible to meet and get to know this amazing group of people. We have experienced alot together and we have learned alot too! Throughout our week together we have had many good laughs. So...just to reminisce for a little bit, here is a list of some of the most memorable quotes for TEAM GUATEMALA: (maybe you can even guess who said them :)
1. It's only 9:00!!!!
2. "I can projectile vomit."
3. "Oh, look at the cute little boy teaching his brother to ride a bike through cow poop!"
4. "World's best husband!"
5. You stinky footed, yellow panted man!"
6. "Next trip, I'm bring 4 pounds of twizzlers and depends!"
7. "We're having chicken!"
8. Korean karaoke music singing reggae music in Guatemala!
9. "It's like Helen's drink...which is repulsive to some of us!"
10. "It's just like hot chocolate!"
11. "Wuv...true wuv.."
12. "We have nothing else to give him."..."Sure we do, you've got shoes!"
13. "Wear pants, it's cold on the hike and you won't break a sweat." ...Yeah right Steve!!!

So...to finish out our trip...our team has settled on a motto/acrostic for Guatemala which was created by the Russell family! Here it is:
God
United
A
Team
Equipping
Many
And
Loving
All

Thank you everyone for your prayers and support and Gracias Dios!
